Privacy Policy for Picture PR

Effective Date: September 7, 2026
Last Updated: September 7, 2026

Introduction

ApApps ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Picture PR application for iPhone and Mac (the "Service" or the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how Picture PR handles your information when you use it to find duplicates, bursts, look-alikes, and blurry shots in your photo library, review the best shot to keep in each group, and remove the extras.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using Picture PR, you consent to the practices described here.

Privacy First Approach: Picture PR is designed to keep your photos on your device. Every part of the analysis — comparing photos, grouping duplicates and look-alikes, detecting blur, and scoring which shot is best — runs entirely on your device. The App has no user accounts, no servers we operate, no cloud sync, and no analytics or tracking. Nothing about your photos is ever uploaded to us or to any third party.

Information We Collect

What We Collect About You

Nothing. Picture PR collects no personal information about you.

  • There are no user accounts, sign-ups, or sign-ins
  • We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier
  • We do not assign you a user ID, anonymous or otherwise
  • We do not contact any server we operate — ever

Your Photos

Picture PR's purpose is to help you clean up your photo library. To do that, it needs to look at your photos — but only on your device. Here is exactly how that works:

  • Read access only, on your device: The App requests read access to your Photo Library solely so it can compare your photos locally. It analyzes photos on your device to group duplicates, bursts, and look-alikes, to detect blurry shots, and to recommend the best shot to keep
  • Nothing is uploaded: Your photos, and the results of analyzing them, never leave your device. Picture PR does not copy, transmit, or upload your photos, thumbnails, or any derived data to us or to any third party
  • iCloud-safe by default: Picture PR will not download your iCloud Photos originals unless you explicitly turn that on for a scan. This option is off by default, so a normal scan works from the copies already on your device and does not pull full-resolution originals down from iCloud
  • Removals are recoverable: When you choose to remove photos, Picture PR moves them to Recently Deleted (on iPhone) or the Trash (on Mac), where they remain recoverable for approximately 30 days before the operating system removes them permanently. Picture PR never hard-deletes your photos and never bypasses this safety window
  • Local working data: To make repeat scans fast and to remember which groups you have already reviewed, the App keeps its analysis and your review decisions on your device. This data lives only on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App

App Preferences

Picture PR stores your settings locally on your device, including:

  • Theme and appearance preferences
  • Scan options, such as how strict matching should be and which categories to scan for
  • Whether the optional iCloud-originals download is enabled for a scan (off by default)
  • Which groups you have already reviewed, and which photos you have chosen to keep
  • Whether you have completed onboarding

These settings are stored using the platform's standard preference and storage systems and never leave your device.

Local Logs

Picture PR may write debug logs to help diagnose issues. These logs use Apple's standard on-device logging facilities and stay on your device. No log entry is sent off-device by the App. If you ever want to share a log to help us troubleshoot, you can export it manually and email it to us — but this is entirely optional and user-initiated.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or physical address
  • Account credentials of any kind — the App has no accounts
  • Payment information — Picture PR is free and has no in-app purchases
  • Your photos, videos, thumbnails, or any data derived from analyzing them
  • Location data, contacts, calendars, or browsing history
  • Device identifiers or hardware IDs (IDFA, etc.)
  • Crash reports, analytics, or telemetry of any kind
  • Any data used for advertising or marketing purposes

How Your Information Is Used

Core App Functionality

  • Scanning: Reading your photos on your device to identify duplicates, bursts, look-alikes, and blurry shots
  • Grouping and recommendations: Organizing similar photos into groups and recommending the best shot to keep in each one
  • Reviewing: Showing you each group so you can decide what to keep and what to remove before anything happens
  • Removing: Moving the photos you choose to Recently Deleted or the Trash, where they stay recoverable

Product Improvement

Picture PR does not collect product-improvement data of any kind. The App contains no analytics SDKs, no usage tracking, and no telemetry beacons. We rely solely on user-initiated bug reports, App Store reviews, and feature requests sent by email to learn how the App is used.

What We Do NOT Do

  • We do not upload, copy, or transmit your photos or any derived data to any server we operate
  • We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties
  • We do not serve advertisements of any kind
  • We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party tracking services
  • We do not use third-party analytics SDKs (such as Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry, Amplitude, or similar)
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your information — there is nothing to sell

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage Only

All data associated with Picture PR is stored on your device:

  • App settings and review decisions: Stored using the platform's standard preference and storage systems
  • Analysis and working data: Stored in the App's sandboxed storage on your device and removed when you uninstall the App
  • Your photos: Remain in your Photo Library, under your control. Picture PR does not keep a separate copy of your photos
  • On our servers: Nothing — we do not operate any servers that store your data

Your Photos Stay Where They Are

Your photos remain in your device's Photo Library the whole time. Picture PR reads them to compare them, and — only when you approve — moves the extras to Recently Deleted or the Trash. Your files are protected on disk by your operating system's normal file protections. We recommend keeping a device passcode or biometric lock enabled, and maintaining an independent backup of any photos you cannot afford to lose.

Permissions Explained

  • Photo Library access: Required so Picture PR can read your photos to compare them on your device, and so it can move the photos you choose to remove into Recently Deleted or the Trash. You can review or revoke this permission at any time in your device's Settings
  • iCloud originals (optional, off by default): If you explicitly enable it for a scan, the App may download full-resolution iCloud originals so it can compare them more precisely. This is off unless you turn it on, and it applies only to the scan you enable it for

Picture PR does not request access to your Contacts, Calendar, Camera, Microphone, Location, or any other system resource beyond your Photo Library.

Network Activity

Picture PR does not connect to any host we operate, contacts no remote API, and has no cloud component. All analysis happens on your device. Unless you explicitly enable the optional iCloud-originals download — which uses Apple's own iCloud Photos service, not ours — the App has no need to use the network at all. You can verify this by running a scan with the device offline.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We Do Not Sell or Share Your Data

We do not sell, rent, share, or trade your information to third parties under any circumstances. Because Picture PR does not transmit your data to us in the first place, there is no data to share.

No Third-Party Services

Picture PR does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud-storage services. Specifically, it does not use:

  • Cloud storage or sync providers we operate
  • Authentication services (Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, etc.)
  • Analytics or crash reporting (Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry, Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc.)
  • Advertising networks or trackers of any kind

Legal Requirements

Because we do not collect or store your data, we have no data to disclose in response to legal requests. In the unlikely event we are compelled to disclose information, we would only be able to disclose what we have, which is nothing relating to your use of the App.

Your Rights and Choices

Complete Control

You have full control over your data because all of it lives on your device:

  • Review before anything happens: Picture PR only recommends. Nothing is removed until you review the group and approve it
  • Recover removed photos: Anything you remove goes to Recently Deleted or the Trash, where you can restore it for about 30 days
  • Revoke access: You can revoke Picture PR's Photo Library permission at any time in your device's Settings
  • Delete the App: Uninstalling Picture PR removes all of its settings, analysis, and working data. Your photos are not affected — they remain in your Photo Library, where they belong

Data Retention

  • App settings, review decisions, and analysis data: Retained on your device until you clear them in the App or uninstall it
  • Your photos: Retained in your Photo Library under your control. Photos you remove stay recoverable in Recently Deleted or the Trash for about 30 days, per your operating system
  • On our servers: Nothing — we do not operate any servers that store your data

There are no accounts to delete. Removing the App removes everything Picture PR stored.

Children's Privacy

Picture PR is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Picture PR does not collect personal information from anyone, this should not arise — but if you believe a child has been harmed by their use of the App, please contact us.

International Data Transfers

Picture PR does not transmit your data off your device. There are no international data transfers because there are no transfers off your device in the first place.

Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

What Picture PR does and does not do to your photos

Because Picture PR helps you remove photos, it's worth being explicit about what it touches and what it doesn't:

  • Reading your library. To find duplicates, bursts, look-alikes, and blurry shots, the App reads your photos and their metadata on your device. Reading does not change those photos.
  • You review every change. Picture PR recommends which shot to keep and which extras to remove, but it never removes anything on its own. You review each group and approve removals before they happen.
  • Removals are recoverable, not instant deletions. Photos you remove are moved to Recently Deleted or the Trash, where they can be restored for about 30 days. After that window — or if you empty Recently Deleted or the Trash yourself — the operating system removes them permanently, and that is outside Picture PR's control.
  • Keep your own backups. Picture PR is a cleanup tool, not a backup product. You are responsible for maintaining independent backups (iCloud Photos, Time Machine, an external drive, or a backup of your choice) of any photos you cannot afford to lose.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Picture PR is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
  • Warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Warranties that defects will be corrected or that the App is free of viruses or other harmful components
  • Warranties that the App's duplicate, look-alike, burst, or blur detection, or its best-shot recommendations, will be accurate or complete

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall ApApps, its developer, officers, directors, employees, agents, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of profits, data, photos, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Damages resulting from the use or inability to use the App
  • Damages resulting from photos you remove, including photos that are permanently deleted after the recovery window passes
  • Damages resulting from any changes to the App or temporary or permanent cessation of the App

In no event shall our total liability to you for all claims exceed the amount paid by you, if any, for accessing the App during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the liability. Picture PR is free, so that amount is ordinarily zero.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the developer and any associated parties from and against any claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the application or violation of these terms.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do:

  • We will post the updated policy on our website
  • The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will be revised
  • For material changes, we may also surface a notice in the App on next launch

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
